Hello friends! Welcome to Blog Life University. We are so excited to get to know you!
THE STORY OF BLOG LIFE UNIVERSITY
Blog Life University was started in early 2015 as Food Blog University. The conference was a dream shared by Diana Johnson of Eating Richly Even When You’re Broke and Melissa Llado of Serendipity and Spice. We were part of a blogging mastermind group and connected over the fact that we were each pregnant with baby girls due just a few weeks apart.
Both of us were starting the transition from blogging as supplemental income, to getting our husbands involved and pursuing blogging as a family business. We hosted Food Blog University 2015 at the lovely all inclusive Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa in Mexico. After realizing that, although an amazing conference location, not many up and coming bloggers can justify the cost of traveling internationally for a conference. So we began to look at hosting a conference state side.
In addition to moving Food Blog University back to the United States we also undertook a rebranding initiative to make the conference more inclusive. Now, Blog Life University, all bloggers in all niches are welcome to attend and learn how to grow their blogs to the next level.
The wonderful thing about blogging is that it’s a community– no matter your niche you can learn the same strategies to success. We may work at home behind our computers, but the real success comes as we connect with each other to learn, grow, and love.
In 2016, Diana decided to focus on her family and her passion of teaching intimate classes in videography. She is still a pillar of support for Blog Life University and Melissa as they are lifelong friends who embarked on an amazing adventure together.
ABOUT OUR TEAM
Melissa Llado is professional recipe developer who is passionate about sharing the joy of cooking with kids. She believes that there’s so many important life lessons, skills, personal development, and bonding experiences that come from encouraging families to experiment in the kitchen together. As the creator of Serendipity and Spice she started her journey into blogging as an outlet for becoming a new stay at home mom when her first child was born. In the 4 years since, she has turned her blogging hobby into a successful business that is able to support her family. In addition to cooking and writing, Melissa enjoys planning events, traveling with her family, and is self proclaimed Disney dork.
Luis Llado agrees that his wife is a Disney dork but he asked her to marry him anyway. He graduated from the University of Florida in 2002 with a double degree in Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering. Shortly after graduation he started working for Fortune 200 companies in the communications industry. He has been able to fuel the need for his technology fix while developing future leaders and driving key business practices to be able to send his wife to Disney. Currently he has partnered with Melissa in the blogging industry and working to grow their family business to it’s full potential.
